I’ve had a number of enquiries recently about paid development and support work. To simplify things a little, I’ve posted my standard rates and terms on the about page.
In the past, most of my work has come from referrals from existing clients, so it hasn’t been necessary to advertise rates (or to advertise at all – I’ve worked successfully as a freelance developer for several years now without a web page or business card).
In the end, I think these rates compare favourably to equivalent services, particularly those in Australia. More than a mechanic, less than a lawyer.
The other developers operating under the Threshold State banner negotiate their own rates, but I usually recommend they use mine as a starting point for similar work.
